La légende dit que le Funan (Cambodge) naquit de l'union d'un prince Indien Brahmane et d’une princesse Khmère, fille d'un puissant Roi Nâga divinité de l'hindouisme, cobra à plusieurs têtes.

The legend tells that Kampuchea was born from the union of an Indian Brahmane prince and a Khmer princess, girl of a powerful King Nâga divinity of the hindouism with body of cobra and several heads.

Ainsi, lorsque le prince Indien Kaundinya aborda le Cambodge, la princesse Somâ se défendit avec force et vigueur, contraignant le prince à utiliser son arc magique pour la soumettre. Mais Ebloui par sa grande beauté il demanda sa main au roi Nâge. Celui ci accepta la requête et but alors toute l'eau recouvrant le Cambodge et offrit cette terre riche et fertile en dot.

Thus, when prince Kaundinya approached Kampuchea, princess Somâ defended herself with force and strength, forcing the prince to use his magic bow to subject her. But charmed by her great beauty he asked her hand to the king Nâge. This one accepted the request of the prince and drank then all water covering Kampuchea and offered this ground rich and fertile in dowry.

Ainsi fut célébré l'alliance du soleil et de la lune...
